How is SMART different from AA or NA?

SMART is secular and self-directed. It has no steps, no sponsors, and does not ask you to see yourself as powerless or an addict for life. Twelve-step fellowships are spiritual and use the steps. Many people try both to see what helps.

What is the 4-Point Program?

It is the framework SMART meetings use: building motivation, coping with urges, managing thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and living a balanced life, supported by tools from cognitive behavioural therapy and motivational approaches.

No. SMART does not use labels and does not ask for a lifelong identity. You are welcome whatever your goal, whether that is stopping completely or simply taking a look.
