CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) is a calm, non-confrontational way for families to support someone toward help, by improving communication and reducing everyone's stress. It is available free through several UK services.

Then the most useful thing is to look after yourself and stay connected without enabling. People do change, often later than we would like. Your own support, through Al-Anon or a carer service, keeps you steady for whenever that moment comes.
