What is the Big Book?

It's the nickname for the book 'Alcoholics Anonymous', the text AA was built on, first published in 1939. It lays out the twelve steps and tells the stories of early members. A Big Book study reads and discusses it together.

Do I need to bring the book?

No. There are usually copies in the room, and online groups share the text on screen. You can also read it free on AA's own website.

Is it only for AA?

Big Book study is an AA format, so most of these are AA meetings. Other fellowships have their own core texts, like NA's Basic Text. You are welcome at any meeting, and many people use more than one.

No. You can pass on reading and on sharing, and just listen. There is no pressure and no one will put you on the spot.
