Debtors Anonymous is a free, peer-led fellowship for anyone who wants to stop taking on unsecured debt, one day at a time. It runs across the UK, online and in person, with no fees, no referrals, and no requirement to have your finances in order before you come. The only thing asked is a desire to stop debting.
A meeting usually lasts about an hour. A member chairs it, reads a short opening, and people share from their own experience with money and debt. You are never required to speak, and listening is welcome. What is said in the room stays in the room.
DA uses a few simple tools: a spending record, pressure relief groups, and no new unsecured debt. There is also a focus for self-employed people and business owners, Business Debtors Anonymous, usually shortened to BDA.

Yes. All Debtors Anonymous (DA) meetings are free to attend. There are no membership fees, no waiting lists, and no referrals required. Some groups pass a basket for voluntary contributions toward room hire costs, but this is entirely optional.
No. You can come and listen without saying anything. Nobody will call on you, and most people find it easier to sit quietly and take things in at first. If you want to say your name you can, but there is no expectation.
No. You do not need to have stopped before your first meeting. Many people attend while still in the middle of the problem. The only requirement is a desire to stop.
The programme references a higher power, which each member defines for themselves. Many members are not religious, and atheists and agnostics are common in the rooms. The spiritual aspect is about seeking help outside of yourself, not about any particular religion.
